Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. provides expert teams of industrial workers and technicians with a wide range of experience in various fields.

The companies are ISO 9001 certified, certified welding processes and A and B certifications in the electrical division.

Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. operates in a 3,000 m2 facility, specialise in factory maintenance and have staff on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The beginning

The decision to establish a special service company was based on Elkem ASA’s policy that stated that each production company within the organisation should focus solely on its core operations. Thus, services for operations should be in the hands of those who define these services as their core operation.

GT Tækni ehf. opened  for business in April 2002. The company was originally comprised of 25 employees from the technical department of Íslenska járblendifélagið hf. [Icelandic Alloys], a diverse group with various skills. There were skilled industrial workers and technicians, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, car mechanics and electricians with decades of experience in new construction, renewal and installation of equipment, modifications, preventive maintenance and all manner of repair work, inventory management, procurement and selling of material.
