mechanical workshop

The Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. Mechanical Division is divided into four main departments: Mechanical Workshop, Blacksmithing Workshop, Lathe Workshop and a Manufacturing area where electrode casings are produced. The workshops are well-equipped for general maintenance and repair work, lathe work and new construction. The companies also have certified welding processes.

 

Production

Each year, the company’s special production line produces 1,000 electrode castings, 2 metres high and up to 1.8 metres wide.

Electrical workshop

The company’s Electrical Division has an A certification (for electrical contractors working with high voltage systems) and a B certification (for electrical contractors working with low voltage systems, e.g. electrical installations in houses) and repairing any kinds of electrical appliances. The Electrical Division also got a certification for all high and low voltage electrical equipment in the Hvalfjörður Tunnel.

 

The Electrical Division takes care of general repair work and the maintenance and renewal of equipment, along with new constructions of high and low voltage equipment.

Factory maintenance

The Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. employees have many years of experience in every aspect of building, maintaining and repairing factories in the mechanical, electrical and vehicle sectors, and they have specialist knowledge of all related equipment.

 

The unique circumstances in a smelter are quite unlike those in a conventional industrial environment. At Meitill and GT Tækni ehf., we have a thorough understanding of working with equipment in a situations where there are high levels of radiated heat, abrasive dust and molten metal spatters.

The specialised knowledge within the company is due to the staff’s expertise regarding factory-related equipment. Within the company, there are decades’ worth of experience of factory maintenance, preventive maintenance, installation of new equipments and new constructions.

 

Conveyor Belts

Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. focus on repairing conveyor belts, grinding and sieving equipment and on gluing rubber conveyor belts. There is a large resource of expertise on the maintenance and adjustments of conveyor belts, grinding and sieving equipment. We have the necessary equipment and expertise for belt splicing, both cold gluing and hot gas welding.

In the Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. Vehicle Workshop at Grundartangi, cars, heavy machinery and practically anything on wheels is repaired. The Meitill and GT Tækni ehf. professionals are specially trained in inspections and repairs for many well-known brands.
